Motorola, Inc. announced the debut of the Motorola Smart Rider phone, an innovative in-vehicle solution featuring GPS navigation, interactive voice activation, Bluetooth wireless technology and exceptional audio quality that’s sure to make this phone an integral part of every driver’s journey. A unique hands-free solution, the Smart Rider phone uses GSM technology to enhance user experience by ensuring that users can converse, navigate and tend to business while on-the-go.

Key Product Features
Enhancing performance and reliability, the M990 enables extended coverage via external RF antenna for dedicated communication in remote locations. Background noise suppression and echo cancellation allow for superior audio quality when driving in tunnels, on bridges, near construction sites or in other noisy environments.

The embedded GPS navigation of the M990 provides voice & visual turn-by-turn instructions & Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) enabler – featuring voice-guided directions, online traffic updates, optimized re-routing and Points of Interests (POI) such as nearby restaurants, hotels or gas stations. The M990 features enhanced voice activation services including: name dialing (dial a contact saved in your phonebook entry via voice prompts); number dialing (dial a contact not in your phonebook by saying the number), call answering (answer a call by saying “yes” or reject a call by saying “no”) incoming call recognition (lets the unit recognize the incoming caller) and voice activated menu access (use voice prompts to browse to frequently used menu options). The M990 also provides storage of 1,500 names & numbers to your personal phonebook and allows you to choose from 7 different languages.

With Bluetooth connectivity, you can automatically transfer calls between the M990 & your handset for the ultimate mobility. In addition, the M990 features Bluetooth phonebook synchronization so you can enter personal information and automatically receive updates on both phones.The M990’s optimal in-vehicle design improves driver convenience with a 2.8′ color display, enlarged font size, jog dial key for easy menu access, illuminated tactile keypad, day/night detector to adjust backlight mode and a one-touch Smart Key for voice activated dialing and incoming call answering.

The M990 is also a hands-free solution complying with the recent market trends towards hands-free legislation and the consequential increase in attention to driver safety worldwide. The M990 lets you keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road! GPRS/EDGE connectivity enables you to transfer high-speed data such as e-mails, faxes and files, using Mobile Phone Tools software support. Additionally, the M990 has a Java engine with music, messaging & browser capabilities to you are always connected to your office, home and environment.

The M990 is placed in the vehicle via a cradle that allows for hands-free operation. When leaving the vehicle, the unit can be easily removed from the cradle and placed into a carry-case for storage until your next driving experience.
